Alice Ravenel Huger Smith Collection

The Alice Ravenel Huger Smith Collection contains the book, Twenty Drawings of the Pringle House (1917). This book was a collaboration with her father, D.E. Huger Smith. Alice R. Huger Smith (1876-1958), was part of the Charleston Renaissance and is remembered as a painter, printmaker, author, illustrator, historian and historic preservationist.

Chicora Wood Collection

The Chicora Wood Collection features seven photographs taken by North Carolina photographer, Bayard Wootten (1875-1959) in 1938. Plantation owners, Duncan and Frances Waddell had recently hired Charleston landscape architect, Loutrel Briggs (1893-1977) to plant numerous azaleas and camellias throughout the property. The photos include exterior views of both the c.1809 house and gardens.


Dreamkeepers Collection

The Dreamkeepers Collection contains photographs of some of the most significant African-Americans in Georgetown County, including Joseph H. Rainey, the first African-American to serve in the United States Congress. Founded in 1978, the Committee for African American History Observances (CAAHO)
