Kate Foster Boyd

Kate Foster Boyd is the Digital Collections Librarian at the University of South Carolina. Ms. Boyd was a reference librarian at USC from 2001-2003. She also spent 2 years at the National Digital Library at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., where she was a Digital Conversion Specialist and helped create the digital library Meeting of Frontiers. Ms. Boyd received her M.L.I.S. from the School of Information at the University of Michigan in 1999 and a B.A. in Art History and French Area Studies from Kenyon College in 1992.
As Program Director, Ms. Boyd handles the grants and fund raising administration for SCDL. She is also the first point of contact for the midlands institutions to add their content to SCDL. Please contact Ms. Boyd with any funding or midlands region questions.
Heather Gilbert
Metadata Coordinator & Associate Director for the Coastal Region (Coastal Regional Coordinator)

Heather Gilbert is the Associate Dean of Collection and Content Services for the College of Charleston Libraries and the Co-Director of the Lowcountry Digital Library. She also serves as the DPLA metadata coordinator for the state of South Carolina. She has presented nationally at conferences on metadata standards and digital librarianship. Ms. Gilbert was awarded an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 2002 and graduated from the University of South Carolina with her MLIS in 2011.
As Associate Director for the Coastal Region, Ms. Gilbert is the first point of contact for coastal institutions to add their content to SCDL. As Metadata Coordinator, she maintains the metadata standards for all SCDL collections. Please contact Ms. Gilbert with any coastal or lowcountry region questions.
Christopher Vinson
Associate Director for Upstate (Upstate Regional Coordinator)

Christopher Vinson is the Head of the Office of Library Technology at Clemson University Libraries and is responsible for developing policy and providing support in these areas: digital scholarship and production, programming services, and enterprise systems management. Chris has been with Clemson University Libraries since May 2011, when he was hired as the Digital Projects Librarian to manage digitization and metadata activities, establish workflows, and foster partner relationships. Chris serves as the Principal Investigator and Project Director for the Open Parks Network, an IMLS National Leadership Grant awarded to Clemson in 2010 that aims to digitize 200,000 archival artifacts and 1.5 million pages of gray literature held at the libraries and museums of the parks, historic sites, monuments, and battlefields managed by the National Park Service. Chris also serves as the Director of the South Carolina Hub for the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). In this role, Chris manages the disbursement of DPLA grant funds, monitors grant activities, coordinates the standardization of metadata practices across the state, oversees technology integration, and solicits new partners for digital projects for inclusion in the South Carolina Digital Library.
Prior to arriving at Clemson, Chris served as the Head of Library Systems at the College of Charleston, where he and his staff provided support for the Millennium ILS, remote authentication, web development, and server maintenance. In addition, Chris played a key role in the early development of the Lowcountry Digital Library.
Before the College of Charleston, Chris worked as the Assistant Project Coordinator of the South Carolina Digital Library, first at the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL), then at the University of South Carolina Libraries.
Chris received his MLIS from the University of South Carolina in 2008, and his BA in English from Winthrop University in 2006.
Rick Jones
Upstate Regional Co-Coordinator

Rick Jones is Manager of the Digital Collections Center at Furman University’s James B. Duke Library. He graduated from Furman University with a BA in Studio Art in 1990, and earned an MFA from the University of North Dakota in Ceramic Sculpture with a minor in Printmaking in 1995. Rick currently has twenty-four years of academic library experience. He began his academic library career at Montana State University in 1996 working in Access Services. His cataloging and metadata experience started with the Furman University Library’s Cataloging Department in 1998. He began working in the Digital Collections Center in 2010, and has managed the Center since 2013.
As Manager of the Digital Collections Center, Rick oversees the planning, management, and completion of Furman’s digital projects and collections.
Tyler Mobley
Technical Coordinator

Tyler Mobley is the Digital Services Coordinator for the College of Charleston Libraries. He is also the Co-Director of the Lowcountry Digital Library. He has worked with the South Carolina Digital Library since 2010 in various capacities, including multiple site migrations and redesigns. Mr. Mobley received his MLIS from USC in 2010 while working for SCDL in Columbia, SC.
As Technical Coordinator, Mr. Mobley manages the web site and harvester for SCDL.
