The Peter Gaillard Jr. Plantation Journal is a bound volume in the Gaillard Family Papers, 1758-1901, collection. Written by Peter Gaillard Jr., 1783-1843, and other members of the Gaillard family upon his death, the journal records information between 1825-1851 for the Rocks Plantation in what was then Berkeley County, South Carolina but is today, Orangeburg County. Entries include information on the enslaved men, women, and children on the plantation such as their names, births, deaths and number of blankets given out to each enslaved person. Also included is information on the growing and selling of cotton and tax return statements for S. Gaillard.
