The Lincoln High School Preservation Alumni Association is a 501(c)3 organization established by graduates and supporters of the historic Lincoln High School in Sumter, SC, c. 1870. The Association’s mission is not only to protect and preserve the historic structure, but also to collect, record, and share the history and legacy of the school and community. A permanent exhibition that documents the inspiring stories of Lincoln High School and the African American community in Sumter is planned for phase I of the forthcoming Lincoln Museum and Heritage Complex. The Complex will serve in perpetuity for future generations as a “third place” for the Sumter Community, providing spaces for community meetings, events, celebrations, trainings, and workshops.
