The Good Hope Plantation Journal, 1835-1874 (bulk 1835-1857) collection is comprised of a bound volume and loose papers pertaining to Good Hope Plantation located in St. Matthew’s Parish, South Carolina. Other entries list plantation stock, crops, names of buyers and prices paid. Loose papers found in the collection include cotton records (1835-1837), lists of slave families (1857), their ages, births and deaths, estimates of the dates of birth for slaves born in the mid-18th century in Africa and a list of plantation workers (1870).
