About
The South Carolina Speech-Language-Hearing Association (SCSHA) is a professional association for Audiologists (AUDs), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs). The professionals that are members of SCSHA provide speech, language, hearing, and swallowing evaluations and interventions that improve the lives of individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. The purpose of the organization is to engage in grassroots legislative advocacy efforts, provide continuing education opportunities, encourage intraprofessional and interprofessional engagement and collaboration, support research and prevention efforts, and promote excellence in higher education and clinical training relevant to individuals with communication and swallowing disorders and the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). SCSHA also promotes involvement in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and encourages members to obtain and maintain the national credentials for the profession.
SCSHA is governed by an Executive Board and relies on the participation of its members in various committees that identify, study, and review matters related to the purposes of the organization and advise the Executive Board accordingly. Members of SCSHA include AUDs, SLPs, SLPAs, and members of associated professions.
SCSHA’s Mission: We cultivate the excellence of diverse, ethical professionals through advocacy, education, service, and leadership for members and the public.
SCSHA’s Vision: Ensuring equitable access to speech, language, hearing, and swallowing services throughout South Carolina
