About

This collection reflects coursework by students at the University of South Carolina Honors College exploring the 2020 election and civic engagement.  Developed in 2019, before the presidential match-up was determined, the course emphasized exploration of all viewpoints and the many ways citizens can engage with their larger community around the political process.

Interviewees range in age from college students to retirees. They come to the interview from a variety of political perspectives, and emphasize the importance of voting and engaging with their communities.

Topics addressed in the interviews include voter registration, food insecurity, climate change, women’s history, the U.S. Supreme Court and Ruth Bader Ginsberg, canvassing, civil rights history, political campaigns, and political candidates.
